Rationale
With the phenomenal growth of tourism (predominantly nature and culture-based tourism) in the Province of Bohol, it is important to sustain the socio-economic gains of this trend for the province in order to foster not only increase in tourist arrivals and/or their continued patronage, but also the increase and/or expansion of investments in the tourism sector, that will redound to the equitable distribution of benefits to the LGUs and their citizenry, and the constituents of the province. It is equally important to sustain the natural and cultural resources of the province that are the priceless capital of its entire tourism industry.
Alongside this premise the enactment of Republic Act 9446, declaring Bohol as an Eco-Cultural Tourism Zone and its identification in the National Ecotourism Strategy as one of the ecotourism banner sites in the country reinforced the province’s effort in working towards sustainably developing the province.
